Sharp Objects is gritty and disturbing, and will make you feel uncomfortable. The protagonist is plagued by depressive thoughts, often turning to alcohol for relief. The words carved into her skin from her cutting hum alive during her interactions with other characters. Scenes depicting a slaughterhouse, scandalous sex, and drug abuse are scattered throughout. Fast-paced, this book digs deep into Camille’s family dysfunction and the Wind Gap’s small town grim reality. Readers who enjoy psychological thrillers with extremely flawed narrators may find this novel appealing.

I thought this was a good read. I was interested throughout the book, but the ending became predictable.

By far the most disturbing of Flynn's novels, Sharp Objects is terrifying and upsetting, but as always extremely well written and compelling.

I really enjoyed the unexpected characters in this book! Also: I loved that it took place in southern Missouri.

This was a very disturbing, unsettling thriller. I needed a shower then some fresh air after I finished it. Gothic, edgy, brutal - it wasn't a pretty experience, but very well written and intelligent. If sex and drugs - in all of their possible ugliness - bother you, stay away. I will be reading her next one, but not for awhile.

I enjoyed this novel very much! I love Flynn's style of writing that keeps you in suspense and on your toes the entire time! The author's style of writing makes you think you how everything will end, but there are surprising twists!

I wasn't a huge fan of this. Gone Girl was way better. The writing and subject matter was quite dark.

“I'm here, I said, and it felt shockingly comforting, those words. When I'm panicked, I say them aloud to myself. I'm here. I don't usually feel that I am. I feel like a warm gust of wind could exhale my way and I'd be disappeared forever, not even a sliver of fingernail left behind. On some days, I find this thought calming; on others it chills me.”
