Let's face it, f-f-f-folks! - "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is just plain dumb. Yep. It really is.

You know, I find it totally incomprehensible that "Plan 9" actually managed to get approval for theatrical release. 'Cause I can't imagine (even back in 1959) that it had enough going for it to attract the attention and interest of a large, enthusiastic audience.

Anyway - The one and only thing that "Plan 9" seems to have going in its favor is that it is certainly good for a couple of laughs..... But, that's about it.

Though hailed as the worst movie ever made, it's also one of the funniest. It actually gets funnier with rewatching! Lugosi died after two days filming, so many of his shots are 'doubled' by a younger, taller guy holding a cape over his face. Not to be missed.

'Plan 9 From Outer Space' is Ed Wood, Jr's '400 Blows' but I'd nominate 'Orgy Of The Dead' as the worst of all Ed Wood, Jr.-related movies. Key word related.

While 'Plan 9' is a pleasure to watch, 'Orgy' is truly hard to watch, so much so that I consider real machismo to mean that if you can watch this all the way through, AND maintain not just attention but interest, then you are a mucho macho man. Besides being a gloriously happy idiot. Count me in.

But yeah, "Plan 9 From Outer Space' ranks right up there as the "Gone With The Wind' of schlock.

Delightfully horrible and well deserving of its title Worst Movie In The World.

Truly bad, it lives up to it's billing. Interesting collection of prior film work by Ed Wood.

I am a fan of MST3K and looking forward to hearing Mike Nelson's commentary.

So outrageously bad, it is a must see for lovers of schlock.
Best when paired with Tim Burton's, Ed Wood.

Although often called the worst film ever made, Wood's "Glen or Glenda?" is actually far worse. This is hilariously inept.

Way,way, way back when i was a child i use to watch a spooky program on channel 11 called "Chiller Theater!!" I was often scared out of my mind, not because of the horror movies they showed, and some of them were good, but the horrible cretures they would show just before the movie started. Chiller Theater would always start off by playing this very spooky music as many creatures walk towards the camera. It would look like they were coming to get you. However, the one monster they showed that always made me cover my eyes was the FEMALE space vampire from Plan 9 from out space. The very same female you see on the cover. After watching Chiller for so long, i knew when she would appear and quickly cover my eyes. Ha,ha,ha,ha. Although those fears are no longer with me as an adult, my friend and i did enjoy watching this weird, bad script, bad acting, very low-budget movie on my HomeTheater. No other movie in my collection had my friend talking to the screen as often as this one. We were cracking up at the special effects and the dialog in this movie. Many scenes were soooo bad, we weren't sure if it was done on purpose or just a lack of funds. My friend was on the floor a few times and couldn't believe what we were watching. This is a bad movie that i have often heard about and know why sooo many people consider it "The worst movie ever!!!" I"m keeping this film in my collection. Why? Well it made me and my friend laugh. And her and i were completely sober!!! I'm giving this low budget horror movie 5 stars!!!!!! Bad acting, terrible special effects, horrible story, and the one lady vampire that use to scare the hell out of me as a child. Barbeque chicken wings and thighs with pork grinds and Arizona Kiwi/Strawberry.

This was tough to rate. 3½ stars or 70% is pretty generous, considering what we're dealing with here. Mindless dialogue from atrocious actors in cockpits that look like closets. But when you figure in all the contributing factors it has going for it: its cult classic status as being *The Worst* film, from *The Worst* director; the assorted froot loops in the cast -- Vampira, & Tor, & Criswell, & Bela and his post mortem chiropractor stand-in, etc.; the hilarity of Ed Wood's brazenly cheezy effects and bloopers... I mean... what was he thinking? That toppling cardboard tombstones were acceptable? "Cut! Aaaand... Print!" That being said, I guess when it comes down to it, I don't agree with this being considered *The Worst*. I could see myself returning to this one for some laughs, whereas there's a superabundance of others that I wouldn't even fathom a second viewing of.
