I have to hand it to Lena Olin. After seeing her performance in Polanski's execrable Nine Gates I realized she doesn't care how embarrassingly bad the script is; she is willing to look ludicrous as long as she gets paid. I'll give this movie, "Queen of the Damned" a miss.

I enjoyed the movie, and the soundtrack is great. They did follow the book series to a degree. The actors were decent in their roles.

On the one hand this movie has Aaliyah.. on the other it tried to cram two books into one movie and totally ruined the story...

As a meditation on immortality, it's a little ironic that the post-grunge gothy glam rock sensibility at the center of the film has come to seem so dated already, & some of the songs the band plays really are kinda terrible. The further, more somber irony of Aaliyah's untimely passing isn't lost on me either, when so often she's the one lighting up the screen & stealing the scenes & trying to save this picture from the made-for-TV doldrums. Taken as individual moments there are definitely some worthwhile ones, like the jam session on the beach gone terribly wrong, holy cow. Otherwise it gets pretty campy at points, & the chemistry between Lestat & Akasha is more or less non-existent. Bonus material: Ozzfest meets Cirque de Soleil...! CR

When it comes down to movie titles - I think that "Queen of the Dumbed" would have been a much more appropriate label for this double-dreary, "seen-it-all-before" vampire movie.

Poorly adapted to the screen from 2, interlaced "Anne Rice" vampire novels - This movie's "fanged-ones" were all nothing but a bunch of despicable trash. I mean, this story even featured a scrawny, effeminate bloodsucker named Lestat who (get this!) posed as a darling, little "Romeo" and a no-talent pop-music idol.

And, believe me, this snivelling twinkie's stage presence, the songs that he sang, and the band who backed him up, all made me totally cringe with absolute revulsion like I never thought possible.

All-in-all - This was yet another one of those boring, predictable, and easily-forgettable vampire movies that clearly tried to pass itself off as being so cool and hip - But, in reality, it was just pure vampire-asininity, on all counts..... And, with that - I now pronounce the vampire-movie genre officially dead.

This is one of my absolute favorite movies off all time. Great soundtrack to go with it!

This is probably the silliest vampire movie I've ever seen. Painless and I suppose it dragged at moments, the stand out is Aaliyah who tragically died before the movie was released. She has a commanding physical presence and was very photogenic. One thing I got from it or got me thinking about was how in each vampire story there are different rules. In this movie, for a someone to become a vampire, they have to drink vampire blood and to kill a vampire, other vamps can drain them of their blood. Hmm, I guess Charlaine Harris who wrote True Blood made up her own rules :)

Very well done movie. A pleasure to watch. I would recommend this movie for all to see. No fast forwarding on this one. A++ DVD "It’s fun to be a vampire"
