Being a big fan of the movie Shawshank Redemption, I decided to hear the book on CD ( courtesy of the Toronto Public Library). I recommend it to anyone who loves and revisits the film version. There are lots of differences between the movie and the book- starting with "Andy Dufresne was a "small spare man" which lanky Tim Robins is not, and Red was really a red-head, which Morgan Freeman is not. I will point out no more and let the reader have the pleasure of discovering the plot differences. Both are excellent. But I think the movie writers made fantastic choices in the differences they incorporated- making the movie so much more appealing to the viewer. The villans are more evil, the heros are more lovable in the movie. The book gives us background stories for some of the characters missing in the movie. Loved both.
