When Mark - a young gay man addicted to sex and drugs - hits bottom, his concerned brother checks him into a Christian retreat in the New Mexico desert. Run by a compassionate husband and wife team, Gayle and Ted have made it their life's mission to cure young men of their 'gay affliction' through spiritual guidance. But after Mark bonds with fellow resident Scott and their relationship evolves, they are forced to confront their true selves. Featuring powerful performances from Chad Allen, Robert Gant and Emmy Award Winner Judith Light (Ugly Betty, Who's the Boss , Law & Order SVU), this acclaimed drama is a subtly nuanced and deeply sympathetic look at both sides of one of the most polarizing religious and sexual debates in America: the conflict - and possible reconciliation - between homosexuality and Christianity.

Film has major role for Robert Gant, who portrayed Dr. Ben Bruckner in Queer as Folk, who was Michael Novotny's HIV+ lover.

SIGH! First of all, I'm glad that these organizations have been discredited, and are in the process of being shut down,if they're not all shut down now.

Second of all, it is very difficult to watch a man (Mr. Gant) who I had watched and loved for five years on QAF be treated as despicably as he is treated in this film.

Perhaps that's part of the point of the movie.

The people who run these organizations have a hatred so deep in their hearts that it poisons them, and they market their nefarious services to people who also have that hatred.

With the legalization of gay marriage, we have a better example of how gays and lesbians are to live decent, moral lives than to subscribe to the hateful fantasies of such people.

I am a gay man who was raised in a strict christian home. I loved this movie. I no longer go to church and I question the existence of God as presented by many christians, but this movie is respectful of all the different perspectives without giving difinitive answers. I believe that every person will find some character in the movie who will make a statement or take an action that will resonate within the viewer. This movie deals with sex, drugs, alcoholism, suicide, fundamentalism, 12-Step Recovery, family of origin dynamics, various expressions of community, despair, healing, and love in many different forms.
