It's hard to describe why some people love Howard the Duck. Is it a cult classic for fans of 80's movies? Sure. Is it an acquired taste for people who love overdone bad movies? Certainly. Most of all, in my opinion, it's a reflection of a dead end era of 'big budget, big risk' family cinema. It's a PG movie with a lot of grown up content, only without the nuance of modern family movies like Shrek or Spongebob. A cartoonish concept full of cringeworthy scenes you wouldn't want kids seeing. Originally a big budget film that took itself too seriously, it might have worked if the ridiculous plot was more of a dark comedic parody than a (difficult to put a good description on it) 'family sci-fi adventure' movie? The movie also grossly dates itself, and is full of things that would be utterly unacceptable in modern cinema. Everything about this movie seems like it's something that shouldn't have happened, that no one could reasonably take seriously and enjoy, yet here it is. I don't know if it's nostalgia or the pure ridiculousness of it, but Howard the Duck is a terrible movie I still enjoy.

This is one of my favorites. Obviously it is far fetched; did you read the title?

I like the music. I like the play on perhaps a "plausible" theme. It's just fun and different. It does deal with someone being belittled for their species and does some interesting things with how one might react being thrown into such an awkward situation.

Definitely not for a family movie even though it's rated PG. Not a very good movie to watch at all!!

I did'nt think this movie was still around in any way, shape, or form. It has been rated as one of the worst movies of all time, and was the butt of many jokes back when released. I only saw it because I know a couple of the actors in the the film. Boy, are they embarrassed!

When you're dealing with a duck you might expect a family movie, but this is an adult movie with a twist. Several adult theme made weird with the inclusion of a humanized duck. WIth my 7 and 11 year old, had to stop the movie part ways through.

Howard the Duck is definitely one of the worst movies of all time. At just under two hours, this piece of garbage is two hours too long. It's boring and is full of crappy special effects + wooden acting. Don't recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a good or even mediocre movie.
