The car chase scenes turn out really, really, extremely exciting with the final jaw-dropping ending.
A gripping, engaging and entertaining piece with a simple, if not crazy, heist story.

Review for "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" ("Race With The Devil" reviewed separately). Peter Fonda proves once again that Jane inherited most of the talent and a pop-eyed Susan George hams her way through with all the emotional conviction of your standard muppet, yet there is something to this 70s drive-in movie that grows on you. In desperate need of funds to buy a new set of wheels, race car driver Larry (Fonda) and his faithful mechanic Deke (Adam Roarke) rob a supermarket and head out on the highway. But a huge wrench is thrown into their plans when Larry’s manic one-night stand Mary (George), decides to tag along—and she won’t take “NO!” for an answer. Essentially a 93-minute car chase, director John Hough keeps things clipping along with screeching tires, daredevil stunts, and a succession of crashing police cars as a no-nonsense sheriff (Vic Morrow) gives chase by land and air. The script is sophomoric at best (who commits kidnapping and robbery without hiding their face?) and the stagey ending arrives so abruptly I didn’t know whether to gasp or laugh out loud. I chose to laugh. Look for an uncredited Roddy McDowall as the supermarket manager. VROOM! VROOM!

Peter and stunt drivers did a fantastic job of wrecking cars. Special features interesting. Race With The Devil was not very good.

(This review is for Race With the Devil.) Race With the Devil is about a group of four friends who take their deluxe new RV out for a camping trip and accidentally witness a group of Satanists sacrificing a woman. They spend the rest of the film on the run from said Satanists, finding them lurking around every corner. It's a very fun, crazy, spooky movie that's just dripping with 1970s goodness. If you like car chases, secret Satanists, and/or Warren Oates you're not going to want to miss this one!

DOUBLE FONDA FEATURE:
race w/the devil and this one were both pretty similar...car chase action types, professionally done but non-typical in one way which earns them an extra 1/2 star.
