The first three episodes seem so dull and boring that I almost quit watching, but the fourth episode makes me sit at the edge of my seat. The fifth and the last episode become gripping and engaging.
I love the final scene. It turns out a well-crafted thriller.

fine performances, sets, costumes, but the story rambles along, meandering, never seeming to know where it's going, to a limp, and tiresomely long, conclusion

Well, this was a mistake. I watched the first episode where two mysterious deaths occurred but they weren't investigated. Instead, we were mired in a fledgling TV show with multiple personality conflicts. Boring. Poorly written and poorly executed. I clicked on episode 2 but soon grew impatient so back it goes.

Unfortunately this series only lasted two seasons. Excellent adult entertainment.

Difficult to get into but after the 3rd episode I was hooked. Great watching

Marvellous. The acting is superb. Highly highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes.

It was really hard to maintain an affinity for the lead characters, especially Bel . Her readiness to jump into bed with a married man, knowing that it would affect her career didn't ring true.

So very good. I thought second season even better. Acting, script, relevance to that time. All excellent. Highly recommended.

This is a very good drama with excellent actors. It does help if you know something about the history of the Suez Canal conflict. Am looking forward to second season.

Cold war 1950s Britain at the BBC. A new program is created, pushing the boundaries of traditional, dry television journalism. The team putting on the show, title The Hour, includes producer Bel, a young ambitious woman struggling with her professional ambitions in a male dominated world; rakish anchor Hector; and home news correspondence and moral anchor Freddie. Throw into the mix are espionage, the Suez Crisis and of course a sexy love triangle.
