Very sad movie to see what this young child had to endure and forced to do to survive in a real world of violence, destruction, and the trauma she experienced with atrocities done to her and also what she had done to others to live....... Amazing true story of pain, suffering and trauma.

A Tribeca Film Classic!! The achievement of French Film Director Kim Nguyen can not be underestimated. She has young African actors who are simply spellbinding. The movie has subtitles, but the film images are very vivid. A movie classic that should be watch by all film lovers!

Wonderful, wonderful film, even if the subject matter is not to everyone's taste. The acting and directing had me totally engaged from the very start. Highly recommended!

Quelle oeuvre!

The number of subtitled movies I watch are limited. With a minimal dialogue I didn't feel distracted by the reading, nor that I was missing any of the body language or details of the shot. The story of the atrocities in this young girl's life had my full attention throughout. Kudos to the director for not having the violence explicit; to some degree though, it softens the horrible truth that these events have actually gone on for years to people just a plane flight from where we live.

A poorly done movie about child soldiers in Africa. The main character doesn’t have many lines so it’s hard to get any emotion out of her. Also, things happen too fast so you don’t get to see the bond that was built (how was the relationship with her parent’s?, friends? Etc), so when she loses them you don’t feel sad. All in all, you never get into the main character, which is really a shame. I was expecting to be on a real emotional rollercoaster, but that was not the case. The movie Blood Diamonds does a way better job in handling this subject matter.

An excellent film by Quebec director Kim Nguyen on the life of a child soldier in Africa. The lead girl actress, not a professional actor, delivered a great performance together with the rest of the cast. Shot in Congo, this is a moving story well told by a gifted director who has taken much time to study this issue. English subtitles.
