The movie is simple, spontaneous and believable. Along with acting, the dialog is real and a major plus. Once felt, it is true entertaining movie. The short scene of face movements in record store is especially touching.

Jesse and Celine meet on a train in Europe, spurred by an instant connection, they spend the night together in Vienna, walking around and talking. A very romantic film, with a restaurant scene in the second half that is just one of the sweetest scenes I've ever seen in a movie.

Very leisurely and plotless, but with such realistic conversation and acting that it absorbs you from beginning to end. Definitely more of an “intellectual” movie but I don’t find it snobbish. I love these kinds of conversations! Makes me nostalgic for the time I could spend an entire night wandering around talking about life. Oh, to have that kind of time again. Anyway, this is the first in an excellent series. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy’s chemistry is nuts!

If you think this movie is boring than go back to batman v superman, you plebs.

Totally bored me. This is an "intellectual" movie...all talk and no action. I've heard great things about this trio of movies but I guess it's just not my style.

Quite boring film. Don't like the actors. Routine and dull conversation. Not recommended.

After seeing Boyhood I had to check out other Linklater movies. Before Sunrise lived up to the standards set for me by Boyhood. A lot of talk that was smart and natural. I can't wait to see more of this director.

Outstanding movie about a 24 hour romance, but the characters seem to be acting without a script. If there was a script, than Ethan Hawke and Julie Dulpy deserve credit for making the movie so authentic. I truly felt I was watching a docudrama about a chance meeting between an young American man and a beautiful French student. "Before Sunrise:"
had me wondering "What would I do in a situation like their's?" I believe there is a follow up movie "Before Sunset" with the same actors. I can't wait to see it!

Jesse: You know what's the worst thing about somebody breaking up with you? It's when you remember how little you thought about the people you broke up with and you realize that is how little they're thinking of you. You know, you'd like to think you're both in all this pain but they're just like "Hey, I'm glad you're gone".

Celine: No, then it's like some male fantasy. Meet a French girl on the train, fuck her, and never see her again.

Jesse: Sometimes I dream about being a good father and a good husband. And sometimes it feels really close. But then other times it seems silly like it would ruin my whole life. And it's not just a fear of commitment or that I'm incapable of caring or loving because... I can. It's just that, if I'm totally honest with myself I think I'd rather die knowing that I was really good at something. That I had excelled in some way than that I'd just been in a nice, caring relationship.
