Percy is confused. When he awoke after his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain-fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight. Somehow Percy managed to make it to the camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he had to continually kill monsters that, annoyingly, would not stay dead. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him.

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. When the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now, because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother claims he is descended from ancient heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery-although not good enough to help the Fifth Cohort win at war games. His big and bulky physique makes him feel like a clumsy ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely-enough, even, to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far north as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment in the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all of whom are destined to play a part in the most important quest of all: the Prophecy of Seven.

Percy Jackson returned but his memory was gone. He met two people and immediately made friends with these two Roman demigods. This book is thrilling and makes you want to read more and more of what happened next. There are many secrets uncovered and battles won but with difficulties to be focused. This book is good for people that are adventurous and people who are interested about Greek and Roman Gods.

best book in the series

Have not read the 2nd book yet...

Still not as good as the Percy Jackson or Magnus Chase series, I liked the first person narrator better than second person. Second person makes it not as, fun. And it was rather slow...

The Son of Neptune is one of my favourites in the Olympian series, because it’s a strong asset to the saga. Honestly speaking, without this book I would not feel any particular emotions for Hazel or Frank; but because this book is mainly focused on these two demigods and Percy, I learnt to love them as much as the original characters. Rick Riordan really hits the mark in this novel because he gives us so much to think about in relation to these characters and why all seven are a part of the Final Prophecy to defeat Mother Earth, Gaea. Although you miss Annabeth, you see her in glimpses in places where she makes more effect despite not being in physical form during this book. Leo, Piper and Jason are in sections that help the reader connect the two camps as being in one time period. So what is this book all about? Percy Jackson, tired and rattled by the two monsters that have been tracking him for days, arrives at a crossroad where the goddess Juno (disguised as an old hag) directs him to Camp Jupiter. But the Romans here are wary of his Greek background and nobody knows who to trust. Suddenly, Percy is thrust into a new mission alongside the only two people who really care about him; Hazel and Frank. Hazel has her own problems, coming from decades before and granted a second chance at life; while Frank doesn’t realize his full potential and suffers from lack of confidence. All together they head to the land beyond the help of the gods; Alaska. Action packed, funny and interesting all in one book!

Rick Riordan never fails to amaze me with his formidable writing. Starting with the “other” camp, our favourite character Percy comes back with a bang! This fast-paced, page turning book can get me staying up until three in the morning. Percy will be going on yet another dangerous, but not impossible quest with new characters, Frank and Hazel. This book introduced the Roman ways and of course the two new characters. Seeing the scenes through their perspectives very much got us adoring Frank and Hazel. This is also the book I go to when I need something to laugh at. Myths suddenly turned into something more after I read this series.
