This PBS special provides a decently done overview of a little-remembered chapter in polar exploration history, but the hour runtime keeps it somewhat superficial.

Exceptional documentary about an American expedition to the polar regions in the 19th Century. It's a story I was unfamiliar with, but it's a harrowing tale that goes into both the good and the bad side of what happened, and features some stunning cinematography and insights into the times. Highly recommended.
