Did not like this movie. All that fog in the interiors and out makes it hard to follow the actors. Is that what's called "artsy"? The story seemed interminable with its main characters undergoing massive personality shifts in the end. Not…

Kim Cattrall fans will be disappointed, she's only in two short scenes. Toby Jones is memorable as the harried solicitor with bad memories of WWI, while Andrea Riseborough--usually very effective--practices minimal acting as the tarty girl…

Wow. some harsh reviews here. I enjoyed it. Toby Jones was excellent. Great story, well directed, and yes, they took some risks in the direction of the movie that took the movie into places that some people didn't like. But I enjoyed it -…

Based on Agatha Christie's work, this thriller appears well-crafted with a fascinating whodunit set in 1920s London. It turns out a transcendent entertaining piece.

this production turns Agatha Christie's murder mystery into a 19th Century Romantic psychological novel, as in Dostoevsky for instance, dripping in angst and recriminations instead of appropriate whodunit clues, a long and tedious, here,…

A great story, but the style of the movie practically ruins it. Maybe it is just "modern", but overblown in some scenes, boring in others, confusing close-ups, and a washed-out sepia look (really, practically no colour). Unpleasant. …

Always a pleasure to watch Kim Cottrell who plays a rich cougar. You may think you see the ending coming but you won't! I enjoyed it.

Worst production ever made of this great story. An attempt to be artsy makes it boring and way too long. There are far better films of this story out there.

Dark, dreary, and endlessly boring. Most of the scenes were so dimly lit that it might as well been a radio broadcast.

It's been a long time since I've read the book or saw the old B&W movie with Tyrone Power. Agatha Christie's stories are always subtle. This version is no different. I didn't know any of the actors but they did a very good job.

Why remake a movie that was essentially perfect already?

A really good movie. I especially like the twist at the end.

Although I cannot fault the acting and the costumes (Andrea Riseborough and Toby Jones being both excellent) , I think this ponderously- paced production was poorly scripted and directed. In an attempt (presumably) to jazz it up for a…

Too bloody for my liking. Did not watch this.

A agree with other posters, so dim and dark. It was almost telling how the end would occur. I do not admire the way they dragged the story out. The first time I have FF during one of AC show. I usually love any AC movie/show. It did have…

Very enjoyable, good story. Charles Laughton is hilarious with his crabby but witty comments.. Amusingly his nurse in the movie was his wife in real life. Highly recommend especially if you like older movies.

In 1957 some good stars made 'Witness for the Prosecution': Tyrone Power, Marlene dietrich, Charles Laughton and a host of other respected actors. The movie moved right along and was a pleasure to watch. Now we come to 'The Witness for…

This superior version is based on the original material and NOT from the play as is the supposed 1957 "classic". It is very atmospheric and dirty (like London would have been at that time) with a few flashbacks to WWI instead of the…

There are three twists to this story. Your response to the movie will probably depend upon whether you think the twists a) shocking, b) obvious, or c) interesting but not really a surprise. As always, British TV does historical dramas'…

Ça commence très bien en situant les personnages et tout. Cependant tel que mentionné par une autre personne le tout se détériore après l'acquittement du suspect. Je ne comprendrai jamais pourquoi on tente de refaire des films qui ont déjà…

Excellent adaptation of the story/play with interesting characters and secrets that wrung out all the “whodunit” elements in a murder case. The twists came at you fast and furious just as the film’s location changed from the grimly 1920s…

Agatha can weave one heck of a stark mystery. Better than Murder on the Orient Express, IMO.
