Why, oh why, did anyone bother to adapt this early Austen writing to the screen? Lady Susan in Sanditon, Austen's unfinished novel, is charming , witty and kind. This Lady Susan is manipulative, self centered, and talks, talks. talks; …

This is boring and interesting at the same time, it is just once you watch it, you will not want to watch it again. Glad they tell us the characters and whose who. It start slow. Lady Susan is a new widow wanting a good marriage for her…

This 2016 Jane Austin adaptation is entertaining in spite of a few holes in the plot... Stars Kate Beckinsale.

The music was so loud it was overwhelming. When I turned up the volume enough to hear the dialog the music was too loud. Lady Susan is a great story and deserves a better movie.

Based on the Jane Austen novella "Lady Susan," this tale is told from the point of view of one of those less morally upright characters that show up more in the background of her other, more popular works. It was pleasant enough…

To boring for me. Just could not relate to any of the characters so I ended up snoozing a lot on the couch. To much drama and not really entertaining.

Good entertaining movie for Jane Austin fans...

Good elements, poor execution -- and Jane Austen is not the problem. True, she wrote Lady Susan aka Love and Friendship when she was very young, and it lacks the depth of her other works, but it is as pointed and snappy a romantic comedy…

too much Jane Austen, not enough Whit Stillman, but the production values, acting, cinematography, costumes, sets, are superb

I loved this film, as I love both Jane Austen and Whit Stillman and they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Don't expect a laugh-out-loud comedy, but expect lots of Austen & Stillman wit. All the actors are great. *However*, a…

I gave up after the first 12 minutes. This movie is astoundingly terrible, and Stillman -- whose previous work I've enjoyed minus some hesitations about the boys' club known as "Barcelona" -- shoulders the blame. Beckinsale, in the lead…

Based on one of Austen’s lesser-known works, the novella “Lady Susan”, this is an enjoyable diversion. It is full of the expected well- turned lines, like this, my favourite: [Lady Susan to her conniving American friend who has married a…

Not a great movie - more a vehicle for a few pithy and witty lines. Strictly for the Austen fan who has run out of Austen.

Jane Austen fans may relish this period piece, adapted from her less known novel, however others may find it a soul-less snore fest. Banter that lacked wit, lovers who lacked passion and a flick that should have paid as much attention to…

Really witty, clever movie. I thought it was a great adaptation of Austen's short novel.

If you remember the 90s (Well, then you weren't there man! Oh wait, that's the 60s.), you remember that the hottest author for a while was one who'd been dead for over a century and a half. We saw adaptations of "Pride and Prejudice,"…

Sadly awful. I expected better. Exceedingly boring. Because the novel was published when Jane Austen was very young, it is lacking in the character and style that we love about her. The movie is a disappointment.

Novelist Jane Austen + Director Whit Stillman = witty and winning combination! If you don't like Jane Austen, you won't like this, but if you do, don't miss it! It's based on Austen's novella, Lady Susan, and although, admittedly, it is…

Enjoyable film about scheming, class and marriage.

Although a clever adaptation of Jane Austen's "Lady Susan," it gets to be rather slow at parts, and the pacing is not always sharp. To be honest, I think that Austen's first novel wasn't fit to be adapted into a movie, because it…

There is some very witty dialogue. As Jemma Redgrave said, the story seems more like Fielding than Austen.

This is beyond a doubt the most idiotic, useless, and boring movie I ever tried to watch. It is NEVER clever. It has excellent actors in it, but they are wasted in a movie that is a waste of time. Don't bother.

This was a delightfully witty movie and I thought it was well done as it was based on a book of letters. The dialogue was hilarious and watching Lady Susan work the room. She is a piece of work and she gets what she wants.
