A collection of short stories about the old norse gods written in contemporary English. It was kindof neat to read about the inspiration for some of gaimin's stories. Each story wasn't very long so the book moved pretty fast. I chose this…

This is a collection of the most important stories in Norse Myth, told in a more modern style. Since this is Norse myth, I wouldn’t recommend it for younger readers. Gaiman does tone down and skip over the worst parts though, so this…

A common difficulty when retelling stories from myth is balancing accessibility and rigor. This book skews to the “bedtime story” end of that spectrum. I like that. Neil Gaiman retells the stories of Thor, Odin, Baldr, Freya, Loki and…

Norse Mythology is a wonderful telling of tales from Neil Gaiman, author of the Ocean at the End of the Lane, and Neverwhere. This book will take the modern reader to the days of the Aesir, and their worlds. It will narrate the feats of…

This is a very enjoyable book from Gaiman. The first person native was great and the book had a few comical moments. I especially the part where Loki plays a trick on Thor's wife by removing her hair and selling it. When Thor threaten to…

I was always more of a Greek Mythology kid than a Norse Mythology kid, but Neil Gaiman lends a fantastic sense of voice and narrative to these different Norse tails and really lends them a sense of voice and continuity. He's able to lend…

I have a confession to make: I did not love Norse mythology growing up. In fact I was only dimly aware of its existence. For whatever reason, Norse mythology never really did much for me. This was true even after reading American Gods,…

I really enjoyed this book!! Neil puts his own spin on timeless Norse Myths and brings them into the 21st century with the wording. Highly recommended for any mythology fan.

An excellent job by Gaiman summarizing and giving new life to stories from ancient Norse mythology. His folkloric tone is spot on. I was surprised to learn in the introduction how the bulk of Norse mythology has been tragically lost to…

In 2017 Neil Gaiman wrote a wonderful book called Norse Mythology, and now you can experience that book in graphic novel format. The myths are so engaging and the added element of artwork in this graphic novel makes the myths even more…

I think it’s an awesome introduction to the Norse mythology and legends for those who know very little. I feels as if most people outside of that culture, only know Thor Loki and Odin from the Marvel comics and movies. So this is a good…

A few years ago, I sat in a cafe in Bergen on the west coast of Norway, sipping a coffee and enjoying a small pastry. It was sweet and satisfying by itself; but I enjoyed it enough to order another; and then, another. The stories within…

I generally loved reading this book. I loved learning about all the tales of the Norse gods. It felt like a was teleported back in time, huddled around the fire in a Viking camp hearing Neil tell the adventures of the gods. Neil tells…

I thought that Neil Gaiman did a very good job telling the stories of Norse Mythology. These stories are hard to share because they weren’t really ever written down. Neil did a great job at bringing these historic legends to life.

Gaiman has had a long fascination with Norse mythology and does an amazing job of making the Norse mythology accessible. i recommend reading in small bites which works well with the his format.

I really enjoyed reading this book after watching the History Channel's "Vikings" series. It was also interesting to note how they used a lot of the Norse God stories in the TV series. Additionally, this book is based on the original…

Very quick, easy read. Took me one day to get through because I couldn't stop. I only wish it had been longer and the stories might have been more in depth.

I listened to the audiobook as I was healing from a minor surgery. Neil Gaiman's quick wit and lovely reading voice kept me company while I spent a few days in bed. Loki's antics cheered me up and I learned so much about Norse mythology!

Here and there, the writing could have been better, and the goings-on presented in a clearer fashion. Even with these flaws, the book is worth reading--especially for those with an interest in the activities of Norse gods, giants, ogres,…
